Photo Friday: My Mom, a New Mom
Recently, I’ve been working on a bit of a photo project, and got hold of a disc filled with scans of my family’s old slides. Anyone remember slides? The disc I have contains photos from 1957 (when my dad went into the Army) to 1977 (when we all wore the most head-scratching outfits; I should show you the one of my toddler brother in an ill-fitting light blue leisure suit).
But here’s a photo of my mother, with my infant sister. She was 20. This past year, my mother turned 70, and in a few weeks my sister will be 50. To say they’ve “grown up” together is no exaggeration. Wasn’t my mom a looker? Isn’t my sis the prettiest little baby ever?
Happy first day of summer, everyone!

Denise, your mom is truly beautiful. And your sister a very pretty baby indeed. I do remember slides and the family having slide shows – Dad loved to take pictures. Now you make me want to travel home and go get them out of the cupboard!!

Melanie,
Even though slides were kind of a pain, thinking back, it was sort of nice to sit there with the slide carousel in a darkened room and go through photos all together. Much more intimate than looking at pictures online by yourself!

Hi Denise, I love the photo! I’m very partial to wonderful vintage photos. I’m following your lead today and posting a vintage photo from the 40s of my mother. I’m going to give you a shout out as well! Nine more blogathon days to go!

thanks, Vilma! I really can’t get enough of looking at old family photos. I posted a different photo of my mom (before she was married) on FB yesterday and it was so cool to see not only my sister and me, but my niece in her lovely face. I’ll go check out your blog.
